| BLUE KNIGHTS WORLD MOTOR CYCLE TOUR From: Trevor Haywood, England I Date: 16 May 2006 BLUE KNIGHTS WORLD TOUR P R E S S R E L E A S E Announcing the Blue Knights® World Motorcycle Tour Facilitating the First Police Officer to Circle the Globe on a Motorcycle On May 15, 2006, retired Miami-Dade Police Sergeant, Alexander Ramirez will board a plane to Heathrow , England, to attempt to be the first law enforcement officer to circle the globe on a motorcycle solo. The venture is being facilitated by the Blue Knights® International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, with 20,000 members in 27 countries, making it the largest club of its type in the world. MDPD Sergeant Alexander Ramirez, born and raised in New York City, became a Law Enforcement Officer in 1971 and moved to Miami, Florida, in 1980 to continue his career with the Miami-Dade Police Department, until his retirement in January, 2006. Career assignments included the Organized Crime Bureau, Uniform, and Northside Narcotics. Joining the Blue Knights® in 1977 and re-chartering the Miami Chapter (Florida IV) in 1980, and chartered the Southern Conference in 1981. In that time, they hosted an International Convention and raised $97,000 for the University of Miami Spinal Cord Research Unit. The Blue Knights® are facilitating the tour by providing support along the route and arranging relaying escorts and appearances in several countries. The unannounced route will take him throughout Western Europe, East across Russia to Asia, and after a flight to Alaska, South down the Alaska/Canada Highway back to the United States. Corporate sponsors have provided Alex Ramirez with the latest in motorcycle safety, the first airbag equipped jacket marketed as, “The Impact Jacket”, which upon falling off a motorcycle, automatically inflate chambers in the jacket to protect the ribs, lower back and spine.
